Avalon Initiative for the Renewal of Education
A new U.S. American, Waldorf-aligned education think tank has been formed in Harlemville, New York.
A new independent Waldorf-aligned education think tank, the Avalon Initiative, has been created through the collaborative efforts of the Hawthorne Valley Center for Social Research and the Research Institute for Waldorf Education. The main office is in Harlemville, NY.
The Mission of the Avalon Initiative is to foster and support equity and freedom in education through:
- Facilitating forums for educators, parents, and students to become informed, deliberate together, and to develop innovative solutions to educational issues and problems as an alternative to current national and state education reform efforts.
- Conducting and/or facilitating educational research and analysis;
- Writing commentaries on critical educational issues;
- Developing model education public policy on important aspects of education, including funding, freedom, rights, and accountability.
