First Waldorf School in Istanbul opened

October 2017

In Turkey, the Waldorf School and Kindergarten movement is still in its infancy.

Last year, the Nisan Kindergarten in Istanbul experienced a slight setback, as several families moved abroad and the Kindergarten lost nine children. In the meantime, new children have been admitted, and now, one year later than originally planned, an admittedly still small Waldorf School has been founded out of the Kindergarten. The Friends of Waldorf Education contributed to the costs for remodeling the school building. School started for the first time after the summer vacation. The dedicated teachers and the members of the supporting association welcomed the children of the first grade to school – with wreaths of flowers and music.
